Without Water...

They will neither hunger nor thirst. The searing sun will not reach them anymore. For the Lord in his mercy will lead them; he will lead them beside cool waters.

- Isaiah 49:10 NLT
Tuesday evening, my dad brought these beautiful tulips home to my mom. She was so excited about them! Well, the above picture doesn't really do the gorgeous flowers justice. I took this picture the following morning when I found them looking a little sleepy. I thought, "Aw, they are sleeping! How cute is that??" I decided that later, I would take another picture when they were more perked up. Well, when I went to the kitchen later to take another picture, my mom told me that she had also found the tulips that morning and that she then realized that she had forgotten to put them in water. She was so excited about them the night before, that she had put them in the vase without water!

These sweet flowers were a reminder to me of the way a relationship with God changes us. Without a personal relationship with God we have no purpose and cannot thrive. Just like without water, the tulips could not stretch out and grow. But when God is an active part of our lives we are nourished and vibrant!

After sitting in water for a while, the tulips lifted their heads to the sun again!

That is awesome!! God really has a way of showing us things he wants us to learn and understand.

This is a beautiful post - tell your Dad to use this analogy when he is teaching!
